Some Distances Are More Nebulous Than Others

The man crouched, grounded and head back.

Eyes closed, he sang an old song–a really old song–within which the words LOVE and DEATH were intermittently exchanged.  After that, everything grew still.

Oh, and in the distance, a fettered horse whinnied.
